Who is eligible to receive bulky waste collection service?

Bulky waste collection service is available to residents of unincorporated Miami-Dade County and residents of the municipalities of Aventura, Cutler Bay, Doral, Miami Gardens, Miami Lakes, Palmetto Bay, Pinecrest, and Sunny Isles Beach. This service is not available in the city of Sweetwater.

How many pickups per year do I receive?

The Department will collect up to 25 cubic yards of bulky waste per household, twice per fiscal year (October 1 - September 30). If the bulky waste pile exceeds 25 cubic yards, residents can choose to combine the two bulky waste pickups into one pickup of up to 50 cubic yards.

If I don't use my pickup, will it roll over to the next year?

Bulky waste pickups not used during the fiscal year do not roll over to the next year.

How do I request a bulky waste pickup?

Before putting furniture, tree cuttings and other bulky waste items at the curbside, you should schedule a bulky waste pickup by calling 3-1-1 or by requesting a bulky waste pickup online.

What happens if I have more trash than I'm allowed for pickup?

Excess bulky waste is billed at the rate of $23.00 per cubic yard. There is a minimum charge of $115.00 (5 cubic yards) per additional pickup. An approval form (available online in PDF format  ) signed by the property owner is required for removal of excess bulky waste.

Where should I place my bulky waste for pickup?

Trash should be placed at the curbside within 10ft. from the street, and at least 3ft. from mailboxes, parked cars, trees, utility poles and other obstructions. A 15ft. clearance is required from the ground to the lowest hanging tree branch or power line.

What types of bulky waste items are collected?

Bulky waste items include furniture, white goods (appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, water heaters, washing machines, dryers), tree cuttings (must be no more than 5ft. in length) and construction materials limited to 1 cubic yard or less.

What items are unacceptable for bulky waste pickup?

Garbage (food and kitchen waste), tires, free liquids, oil based paint or chemicals will not be collected with your bulky waste pickup.

How do I dispose of my bulky waste after I have used my two bulky waste pickups?

Residents can dispose of their trash at one of the 13 Neighborhood Trash and Recycling Centers. Also, they can make a request for the service of a private hauler or request the Department of Solid Waste Management to pick up the bulky waste for a fee.
